Elephant of Senegal, Medium Version, c. 1870
A fine quality, nineteenth century bronze model of an ‘Elephant of Senegal’ by Antoine-Louis Barye, French (1796-1875). This bronze was produced using the sand-casting process at the Barbedienne Foundry, Paris, circa. It is signed ‘BARYE’, inscribed ‘F.Barbedienne Fondeur with the inset gold ‘FB’ seal and has a brown patina with green and black undertones.
