Lion Assis, no. 1, c. 1847
A rare, fine quality, mid-nineteenth century bronze model of a ‘Seated Lion’, large version, by Antoine-Louis Barye (French, 1796-1875). This bronze, signed ‘BARYE’, was cast in the artist’s atelier and has a wonderful ‘feuilles d’Automne’ patina – a melange of orangey brown, dark brown and green.
