Large Javan Rhinoceros, c. 1907-1908

Rembrandt Bugatti

A rare, fine quality, early twentieth century impressionistic bronze model of a ‘Javan Rhinoceros’ by Rembrandt Bugatti (Italian, 1884-1916). This sculpture was cast in bronze by the lost wax process at the Hébrard Foundry, Paris. Before casting it was signed and stamped in the wax and has a reddy brown patina with dark brown undertones.
