Stretching Elephant – Il y Arrivera, c. 1907
A rare, fine quality, early twentieth century, impressionistic bronze model of a ‘Stretching Elephant – Il y Arrivera’ by Rembrandt Bugatti (Italian, 1884-1916). This bronze was cast using the lost wax process by the Hébrard Foundry, Paris. Before casting it was signed, inscribed, and stamped in the wax ‘R. Bugatti, Anvers, A.A. Hébrard Cire Perdue’. This cast has a rich dark brown to black patina with lighter reddy brown undertones.
