Seated Angora Cat, Stepped Base, c. 1910
A rare, fine quality, early twentieth century bronze model of a ‘Seated Angora Cat’ by Theophile Alexandre Steinlen (Swiss, 1859-1923). This bronze was cast by the lost wax process at the Hébrard Foundry, Paris. Prior to casting it was stamped in the wax with the artist’s monogram and the foundry stamp ‘A. A. Hébrard Cire Perdue’. This cast has a rich dark brown to black patina, with lighter brown highlights.
