Pelican, c.1913 -1918
A fine quality, rare early twentieth century bronze model of a ‘Pelican’ by Francois Pompon (French, 1855 – 1933). This sculpture was cast in bronze by the lost wax process at the A.A. Hébrard Gallery, Paris. It is one of only three lifetime casts made by the Hébrard Foundry for the sculptor. Before casting, it was signed and stamped in the wax and has a dark brown patina with reddy brown undertones.
