Torso, Woman Rubbing her Back, 1888-1892

A fine quality, early twentieth century bronze model of a torso entitled ‘Woman Rubbing her Back with a Sponge’ by Edgar Degas (French, 1834-1917). This bronze was produced using the lost wax casting method at the Hebrard Foundry, Paris. Before casting it was signed, inscribed and numbered in the wax ‘Degas’, ‘A. A. Hebrard Cire Perdue’.  It has a brown and green patina with reddy undertones.
