Rearing Horse, c. 1925
A fine quality, twentieth century bronze model of ‘Rearing Horse’ modelled as a cane handle by Charles Joseph Artus (French, 1897-1978). This sculpture was cast in bronze by the lost wax process at the Claude Valsuani, Paris. Before casting it was inscribed and stamped in the wax: ‘Artus’, ‘C. Valsuani Cire Perdue ‘. It has a deep a rich reddy brown patina with golden highlights and blacks in the depths.
