Charles-Joseph Artus | French, 1897–1978
A fine quality, early twentieth century bronze model of a cockerel by Charles Artus (French, 1897-1978). This bronze was produced using the lost wax process at the Claude Valsuani foundry, Paris, circa 1930. Prior to casting it was signed and inscribed in the wax ‘Ch. Artus’ and ‘C. Valsuani Cire perdue’. It has a warm brown patina with golden undertones.
