Owl and Skull, c. 1868

Jean Baptiste Clesinger

A nineteenth century bronze model of an ‘Owl and Skull’ by Jean Baptiste Clesinger (French, 1814 – 1883). This bronze was produced using the sand casting process at the Bronze Artistique de Paris Foundry. It is signed ‘J. Clesinger’, stamped with a foundry stamp which bears a woman’s head and ‘Bronze Artistique de Paris’. It has a warm golden brown patina with darker undertones.
