Grand Duc, c. 1948
A fine quality, early twentieth century bronze model of an owl entitled ‘Le Grand Duc’ by Josette Hebert-Coeffin (French, 1908-1973). This bronze was produced using the lost wax process at the Bisceglia foundry, Paris. Before casting it was signed and inscribed in the wax and has a mottled reddy brown patina.
