Orangutan, 1920
An early twentieth century, fine quality bronze model of a seated ‘Orangutan’ by Marcel Lemar (French, 1892 – 1941). This bronze was cast using the lost wax process at the Claude Valsuani foundry, Paris. Prior to casting it was signed and inscribed in the wax ‘Lemar’, ‘C. Valsuani Cire Perdue’. It has a dark brown patina with golden undertones.
