Hugo is the only Portrait photographer with a Royal Warrant given by HRH Prince of Wales in the United Kingdom. Born in Cannes, France in the Swinging Sixties Hugo first learned to develop and print photographs on the kitchen table at home, with his mother, photographer Ursy Burnand.
Hugo has worked closely with Conde Nast and Tatler magazine since 1993.
His previous subjects include Her Majesty The Queen, Bill Clinton, President Mikhail Gorbachev, Baroness Thatcher, Lucian Freud, Victoria Beckham and Michael Jackson. In 2005 Hugo photographed the Wedding of HRH Prince of Wales to Camilla Parker-Bowles, and then in 2011 he photographed the wedding of HRH Prince William to Catherine Middleton. Similarly Hugo has been famous for taking an official portrait of Prince Charles, Prince of Wales to mark his 60th birthday on 2008. He was commissioned to take the official portrait of Prince Charles, to mark his 70th birthday and in 2023 was honoured to take the official photographs of King Charles’s coronation.
