Baboon at Rest, c. 1920
An early twentieth century bronze model of a ‘Baboon at Rest’ by Georges Lucien Guyot (French, 1885-1973). This sculpture was cast in bronze by the lost wax process at the Susse Freres Foundry, Paris. Before casting it was signed and inscribed in the wax ‘Guyot’, ‘Susse Fres Paris’ and ‘cire perdue’. It has a dark brown patina with golden undertones.
