Chapeau à Frankfurt. Reflections on Impressionist Sculpture
12th May – 16th July 2021
Open by appointment
In recognition of the Staedel Museum’s in Frankfurt’s recent ground-breaking exhibition ‘En Passant’, the Sladmore’s exhibition pays homage to their show and continues the examination of how the attributes of Impressionism – light, colour and movement, found their expression in the vibrant sculpture of this period.
Below is a short film about the exhibition at our Jermyn Street Gallery, introduced by Edward Horswell.
The Sladmore curators have focused on the works of 5 of the same sculptors – Edgar Degas, Auguste Rodin, Paul Troubetzkoy, Rembrandt Bugatti and Emile Antoine-Bourdelle, featured in the Frankfurt exhibition.
Following an initiative from the Sladmore, the exhibition in Frankfurt was wonderfully captured on film. It is a gentle stroll through the show with absorbing, detailed footage of each exhibit. See the film below
