Birds in Sculpture - Antique to Contemporary
An exhibition of over 60 avian sculptures in bronze, terracotta, ceramic and plaster featuring works from the early 19th century French Animaliers such as Barye, Dubucand, Moigniez through the early 20th century impressionist and modern sculptors culminating in a group of works by our contemporary artists Coreth, Dashwood, Fujiyoshi, Law and Lazzari. Whilst the majority of the birds depicted in this exhibition are of British and European origin, there are a few from further afield.
During the last six months we have had more time to observe our ‘feathered friends’ at close quarters which has in turn reflected in the birds themselves gaining confidence, a phenomenon we believe to be widespread. Our fascination with flight makes birds the envy of many of us, in addition their ability to migrate vast distances.
