Magician Bear, c. 1850
A fine quality, rare, mid-nineteenth century bronze model of a ‘Magician Bear’ by Christophe Fratin, (French, 1801-1864). This bronze was produced at the artist’s atelier, Paris. It is signed ‘FRATIN’, inscribed on the base ‘PHILIPPE 1ER ESCAMOTEUR’ and has a dark brown patina with golden highlights.
