Elephant, Mahout and Tiger, c.1930

Roger Godchaux

A good quality, twentieth century bronze model of an ‘Elephant with Mahout and Tiger’ by Roger Godchaux (French, 1878-1958). This bronze was cast using the lost wax process at the Susse Freres Foundry, Paris. Before casting it was inscribed ‘Susse Freres Edts Paris’ ‘cire perdue’, stamped ‘BRONZE’ with foundry seal, numbered and signed ‘Roger Godchaux’ in the wax. It has a dark brown patina with light brown and green undertones.
